Storm Damage Fence Replacement — Lee's Summit, MO
Storm repair in Lee's Summit
We removed the downed section, pulled the failed post and its shallow concrete, and rebuilt 80 feet of cedar board-on-board fence with posts re-set to 36 inches in new full-depth concrete. Neighboring posts that were leaning but still standing were also re-set as part of the repair scope. New boards matched the existing cedar style.
A spring thunderstorm with 60 mph gusts took down an 80-foot section of the homeowner's cedar privacy fence in Lee's Summit — the post that failed had been set shallow at the original install. Lee's Summit gets severe thunderstorm events that track along the Missouri-Kansas border. A fence that survived previous storms can fail in a single event when post depth is borderline.
Why the post failed
The original post was set at approximately 24 inches — well above the KC frost line and insufficient for the wind-sail load of a full-privacy panel. Our fence repair assessment always includes post depth measurement on adjacent sections, so we can identify which posts are vulnerable before the next storm event rather than after. Every new post on this repair went to 36 inches.
Back to full fence
The rebuilt section is plumb, matches the existing fence profile, and is now set deep enough to hold through future storms. The homeowner submitted the fence photos for their homeowners insurance claim — an itemized estimate is standard in our storm response process. Any future cedar privacy fence panels on this property are built to the same standard.
