Modern Charcoal Fence — Belton, MO
Charcoal horizontal fence in Belton
We installed approximately 180 linear feet of 6-foot charcoal-toned horizontal fence panels with black powder-coated steel posts. The panel material is composite — factory finished for UV color stability without staining — with consistent charcoal gray throughout. Posts are set at 8-foot centers in poured concrete at 36-inch depth. The top rail and post caps are also charcoal for a seamless finish.
The Belton homeowner chose a charcoal horizontal-plank style fence that matches the modern exterior of their new build — a departure from the standard cedar board-on-board that most of the street is getting. Newer Cass County subdivisions in Belton are seeing a push toward modern exterior finishes, and fence style is part of that aesthetic direction.
Composite panels in Belton's climate
Belton's Cass County position puts it in the zone where freeze-thaw exposure is as severe as Johnson County. Composite panel fences handle this well because the panels don't absorb water — no freeze-thaw expansion, no warping, no staining required. Posts still need the same 36-inch concrete depth as any other fence type because the soil movement from frost heave acts on the post regardless of panel material. Our privacy fence installation standard covers post depth for every material.
Distinctive look on the block
The charcoal horizontal stands out on a street of cedar-and-tan fences. The homeowner's exterior color palette carries through to the fence in a way that feels designed. No staining is required on the composite panels — maintenance is minimal. If a gate gets added on the driveway side, the post spacing and panel height are already set for a matching gate.
