Cedar Privacy Fence Staining — Shawnee, KS

We installed approximately 160 linear feet of 6-foot cedar dog-ear privacy fence, then returned 30 days later after the wood had fully dried and cured from the pressure-treating. Two coats of semi-transparent penetrating stain were applied by spray and back-brushed to work the product into the grain. The warm amber tone the homeowner requested shows the grain clearly while fully sealing the surface.

Why the 30-day wait

New pressure-treated posts need 30 days minimum to dry before stain will penetrate properly. The cedar boards can take stain sooner — but waiting until the PT posts are ready lets you do the entire fence in one uniform application. This is standard in our cedar privacy fence staining process. Skipping the wait produces blotchy results that need correction.

Deep stain, clean grain

The dog-ear profile with a stained finish has a classic KC-suburb look that holds up well in Shawnee's mixed-use neighborhoods. This fence won't need its next coat for 2-3 years.
