New cedar privacy fence in Blue Springs

We installed approximately 180 linear feet of 6-foot board-on-board cedar privacy fence around the full rear yard. Green-pressure-treated 4x4 posts are visible on the exterior side, which the HOA required be oriented toward the alley. Cedar boards are select-grade, tight-grained, and consistent in width across every panel.

This Blue Springs family upgraded from a chain-link perimeter to full-privacy cedar — the trigger was a dog that had learned to dig under the chain link. The lot is generous for eastern Jackson County, giving us a long rear line to work with. We quoted the full perimeter at once so post spacing would stay consistent across corners.

Post depth and the Blue Springs frost line

Jackson County's frost line runs 30-36 inches — identical to Johnson County across the state line. We set every 4x4 post to 36 inches in poured concrete before any boards go up. Shallow-set posts in Blue Springs clay are what cause the fence-leaning failures we get called to fix every spring after frost season. Our cedar privacy fence installation standard covers every post, every time.

Dog can't dig out anymore

The board-on-board style closes every gap at ground level — significantly harder for a digging dog than chain link. The homeowner plans to stain within 30 days of the install. We left the wood staining schedule on the final invoice with the recommended first-coat timing and re-coat interval for this climate.
